Statement by Sue Riseling, Chair, Police Leaders for Community Safety
“Our hearts go out to former President Trump and the other victims of yesterday’s horrific shooting.
“Police Leaders for Community Safety strongly condemns yesterday’s attack and all political violence, which has no place in our democracy. Political leaders and all Americans should be able to participate in political rallies and peaceful protests, express their political views and exercise their right to vote without intimidation, fear of or actual physical harm.
“As law enforcement professionals, we are greatly concerned by the vitriolic rhetoric that is permeating our public discourse. We call on all political leaders and all citizens – Democrats, Republicans and Independents – to come together as Americans to protect our democratic processes and public safety by resolving our differences with civility and respect for one another.”
