“Police Leaders for Community Safety strongly condemns the pardons of January 6 rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol and attacked law enforcement officers on January 6, 2021.
“Americans must be able to participate in political rallies and peaceful protests, express their political views and exercise their right to vote without intimidation or physical harm. That’s the American way. But violence against our public institutions and our law enforcement officers is completely unacceptable.
“Those who commit such violence must be held accountable. Pardoning people who attacked our men and women in blue is an affront to the rule of law and to all those who put their lives on the line in service to our nation.
“These pardons condone lawlessness and undermine the rule of law — the foundation of our great democracy.
“They send a dangerous message that violence against public processes and law enforcement can be justifiable. It is not.”
